Youth Religious Education

The UUCOV Youth Religious Education (YRE) program
grounds itself in The Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism:

Each person is important

Be kind in all you do

We’re free to learn together

We search for what is true

All people have a voice

Build a fair and peaceful world

We care for planet Earth

We welcome all persons, regardless of:

  • race, ethnicity, national origin;
  • gender or gender identification, affectional preference or sexual orientation;
  • age, physical or mental challenge;
  • social, economic, or marital status.

Youth Religious Education

We are extremely fortunate to have volunteers who allow our YRE program to expand beyond our Sunday YRE curriculum. Two excellent examples occurred in November. Karen Griffin led YRE on a field trip to Sleeping Turtles Preserve. If you haven't taken advantage of this gem of a park, located on the Myakka River, Google it and see what Karen provided our children as she led the nature walk-and-talk.
Barbara Smith and Marilyn Amick, along with youth volunteer Saxon Stanley, gifted their time and talent to the special YRE session, The Gift of Giving, the day after Thanksgiving. Using cardboard boxes and scraps of fabric that otherwise would have been recycled, the children created lovely boxes. They also decorated mini cupcakes to "gift" their parents when they came to pick them up.
Thank you Karen, Barbara, Marilyn and Saxon. We appreciate you!!!
