Teaching in Different Cultures
Sherry Gliesche, an actual Florida native, brought rich experience to her presentation. She holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Linguistics, and a Master's degree in Communication Disorders. Currently, Sherry works as a Speech-Language Pathologist. For many years, Sherry taught English in several different countries.
Sherry spoke about her experience teaching in many different cultures. She touched on such subjects as different classroom styles; the expected manners or relationships between teachers and students; what prompts students in the various countries to learn English; who is allowed to attend school; and are the schools organized in a cooperative spirit or are they dictatorships.
